Big Reads: Passenger

You know what's much harder than it should be? Taking photos of ebooks. Man... I struggled with this one.

But I wanted to share with you Passenger by Alexandra Bracken.

In one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods' grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home forever.

You guessed it! It's a love story. And a sweet one at that. The plot was probably half adventure/half romance and it was just delightful. I flew through it in only a couple of days and was DEVESTATED to learn that the sequel doesn't come out until January (of course.)

I adored Etta and Nicholas. Etta is a strong, independent woman of the 21st century, while Nicholas was born a slave in the 1700s. Despite their vast differences, they fall in love. There's action, adventure, drama, secrecy, heartbreak, time travel, and lots of kissing. If you're looking for a quick read that will make you sigh and say, "Ah, young love..." this is the one for you. Needless to say, I loved it and can't wait for the sequel. This was my first read from this author, so I think I will check out her other work while I wait for Wayfarer.
