Little Reads: Flashlight

Flashlight by Lizi Boyd is such a different and creative wordless picture book.  It's the story of a little boy out in nature after dark, looking at the world with his flashlight.

Check out those endpapers - just beautiful.

All of the pages are black with white illustrations and the only color appears when he shines his flashlight on certain objects. Throughout the story, he wanders through the woods looking at different animals and insects and plant life, until he trips and a raccoon picks up the flashlight to shine on him. Soon many of the animals have had a turn playing with the flashlight. There are also small cutouts to allow the moon or different objects to travel from page to page.

It's a very clever book that is just beautiful to look at. Have you read this one with your littles?
