Book Craft: Chrysanthemum

Yesterday, we read Chrysanthemum. So today, we're doing a craft to showcase our special names. I'm not a crafty or artistic person, so this is definitely not Pinterest worthy, but Isla sure did have fun doing this.

Here's what you'll need for this craft:

  • Paper
  • Glue
  • A pencil
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Pom-poms
Draw the name you would like to craft on a sheet of paper. (Notice my amazing art skills.)

Take your pipe cleaners and create wonky letters.

The wonkier, the better. (The first time I took this picture, the S was backwards....)

Here comes the fun part - get your glue and go nuts. Glue down the pipe cleaners, and glue all up in the letters too.

Stick the pom poms in the glue inside the letters.

Basically just fill in your letters with the pom poms.

Like so.

If your little is anything like mine, they will get bored after one letter and will only want to continue once they see you doing it, and only in order to prevent you from doing their craft, because she can do it herself.

But overall, this was a fun craft and relatively mess free, if your kid is good with glue.

If you decide to try this with your kiddos, I'd love to see it. Tag me in the photo on instagram or use the tag #brlrbookcraft.

Happy reading! (And crafting!)
